The Route 66 Motor Museum is like no other museum you've seen. It's home to a rotating display of 40+ classic cars, scooters, and motorcycles. Many of the vehicles on display are untouched just as they were found in garages and barns all over the Midwest. We feature primarily European vehicles ranging from Microcars to Sports Cars - and everything in between. There's a restoration section where you can see final reassembly taking place, as well as some cars that are in various states of completion so you can see the clever engineering that would normally be hidden. There are also several engines on display (both assembled and disassembled) to see what powers these cars down the road.
The museum is located right on historic Route 66 in Springfield, Missouri - which is known as the birthplace of Route 66. We're conveniently located in Springfield with easy access to all other attractions in the area.
Grab a soda at the classic diner. You can sit at one of the tables or booths and watch the modern travelers on Route 66. The museum offers free WiFi to visitors, so you can plan the next part of your trip, send photos of your adventures, or make a video call back home.
We have a full gift shop featuring shirts, hats, antiques, and Route 66 memorabilia.
The building that houses most of the Motor Museum was purpose-build and designed to match the historic automotive aesthetic. The adjoining building dates back to the 1940s when it was constructed as a NuGrape bottling plant.
In collaboration with the Institute for the Preservation of Interesting Vehicles, we always have some restoration work being carried out that can be observed by visitors.
